Fish and Chips in Houtbay
Over looking the harbour in Houtbay. Family's and friends gathering for a summer day at the sea. Sea gulls flying over head, boats bringing in fresh fish.
Was such a lovely day, yesterday. I just love it when I have nothing on my mind but happy thoughts and can enjoy the beauty of the day. There is something special about going to the harbor and enjoying the fresh fish at the little corner take away shop. I definitely recommend tourists and locals to make the turn out there (I know that its far for Cape Town standards, but do it, its worth it!)
I decided to try the grilled snoek and chips. Tricked myself into believing that it must be some what healthier than having the fried fish and chips, that my boyfriend had, lol. It was just delicious.
There are two blonde girls that have a funny sing-song routine for the tourists, to sell little gimmicks for a charity organization. I was just being told bout them, when they sing songed towards us. Apparently, doing similar routines since they were 10 years old and now probably early twenties, was a sight. Entertaining idea and as they passed us onto their way to the next customers, we watched as people laughed and seemed mesmerized not carrying on but stopping in their tracks.
The fish and chips in Houtbay was a fabulous idea for a afternoon's outing and lunch.
Fish and chips shop in Houtbay can be seen on the left as you enter the harbor on the right hand side, beneath Mariner's Wharf. Take a stand in the queue and let the local fisherman do what they do best... fish!
The fish and chips shop in Houtbay is an inexpensive and delicious meal.
